With the Instagram platform, you are only allowed one single link/ URL on your profile that is not attached to any given post; it's in your bio. If you choose to work with different advertiser programs or brands or would like to promote several products within the same brand, then you will have to change the link depending on what you are promoting at the time.
This can be a tedious task to constantly change the affiliate link. Fortunately, there are some workarounds. Instead of directly linking to an advertiser's website or product in your bio, consider the following options:
- Use a third-party link panel such as Linktree, TapBio and linkin.bio. These apps, also referred to as 'bio link tools', allow you to have one URL that points to a number of links. When a user clicks on the link, they are taken to a page that houses all your (affiliate) links.
Once you've set up your landing page and added all your links, simply copy your unique URL and paste it into the 'Website’ field of your Instagram bio to be shared with your followers. Then, all you need to do is update your landing page links - you don't have to change the link in your bio again. The setup is easy and most of the apps are free to use.
- With the latest expansion, Instagram lets all users share links in their Stories using the link sticker feature. With this, content creators are able to share multiple links for their audience to click on and, ultimately, to make a purchase.
- Another option you have, if you also have an online store/website through a platform like Shopify is to create a page on your website to shop your Instagram. Instagram shopping connects the products you have in your store to your Instagram business profile. You can learn more here: What is Instagram Shopping? | Instagram for Business
