Tagging is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to organize the Affiliates in your program. Whether it be for reporting, sending bonuses, or making sure certain Affiliates in your program have specific rules set for them, tagging is a fantastic way to make sure you are always on top of segmenting out your Affiliate partners.
In order to tag your affiliates, you can simply go to your Affiliate List and select the little tag icon within any affiliate profile. Once in there, you will just select the “Add Tag” option on the bottom, where you can add a tag or create a new tag within the Tag Manager. Remember that, in order to add a tag to an affiliate, you have to create it first so that it is available for use:
There are also ways to mass tag your affiliate base, by using the “Mass Actions” or “Tag All” options at the top, within the Affiliate List. You can “Select All” and then apply tags accordingly; one thing to keep in mind is that this action will be performed only to those affiliates within the current page, so if you are looking to mass tag all your affiliates you might want to use the Batch Upload Tag menu.
With the Batch Upload Tag menu, you can edit affiliate tags by uploading a file (essentially, make edits in bulk). You will need to upload a CSV file with your data in comma, tab or pipe delimited format with one entry on each line.
Example:
USERID|TAGID|(ADD or REMOVE)
ADD is optional, if omitted ADD will be assumed
REMOVE may be abbreviated 'R' for convenience
Note: it is important to remember that you need to add a “TAG ID” and not a tag name. Therefore, this tag must be created in advance.
Tagging affiliates will unlock very powerful tools and features within the UI, which will allow you to more effectively manage your program:
Affiliate Segmentation and reporting: by tagging your affiliate base, it will be much easier for you to filter your affiliate base by tag either in the UI itself (Affiliate List > Advance Filters and Sorting) or within your downloadable affiliate list, where you will find a “Tags” column (column “Z” in the CSV).
Newsletters: send Affiliates specific and individualized incentives or promotional methods.
Banners: provide the various Affiliate types with banners that correlate with their different promotional methods.
Coupons: activate the up-and-comers with exciting and unique coupons or motivate the top performers with personalized deals.
Commissions: segment out your attribution y offering a different payout to a group of affiliates. You can achieve this by leveraging specific tags within our Commission Rules feature.
Bonuses: provide varying campaigns to Affiliates based on performance, to motivate or reward, even to recruit new Affiliates.
